  • Condition: It was a dark & rainy day when I photographed this sculpture. Of such is Portland this time of year. If you can look beyond the dark overcast photos, you will see a wonderful sculpture.This sculpture stands just a bit over 10 inches tall, The base is 7 1/4 inches wide (with the cowboy facing you), and about 8 1/4 inches in depth. This sculpture is exceedingly heavy for it's size. It weighs in at 8 pounds on my postal scale. I can only say that I believe the compositon material to be clay. I'm not about to dig or drill into it to be certain. It is not resin for sure. It's far too heavy for that. It could be a porcelain. The finish is a gold and bronze color that is in amazing "Mint" conditon. For certain it is a painted finish. It is signed on the top of the base. The artist has signed (his or her) name: Largo. The piece is dated 1976, making this sculpture 44 years old. There are no maker's marks on the piece anywhere. The bottom has four pads to protect any table or desk top.

    Description

    This sculpture has wonderful details throughout.  The color and patina is superb. The hair, the face (and lines in the face), the clothing and the braded rope, all have superb detail that brings this sculpture to life.  He looks to me as though as he could have been a Civil War soldier traveling home. He is well dressed.  His clothing has prepared him for winter. I can't be sure, but it looks like he has made himself ready for a very long journey.  Also look at his hat, its detail, and the detail in his hands.  The veins in his hand are those of a man whom has significant physical strength. He does not fear work.  He looks like a man who has seen much,  a man you would want to be on your side and have your back...
