john deere model 49 snowthrower, snowblower gearbox (3 bolt)

Description

Deere 49 snowthrower gearbox from pre-1972 blower - this is the "3 bolt mount" gearbox - not the "4 bolt" you see on here all the time - they are NOT inter-changeable!! Degreased with 30%/70% Dawn/water and you can see the results. Popped the cover off & 80w-90 gearbox oil was still in place(approx 1/2 full) and gears shown bright. shafts spin freely with no catches/hitches, and while gear backlash is completely subjective to the shaft spinner, I can say this feels just the same as my 2 active 49's with 4-bolt gearboxes. the donor 3-bolt blower was my original SB purchased used in 1977 and threw tons of snow here in N/W Pa till the drum turned to swiss cheese. If you have the pre-'72 Mdl 49 and need this, you will not be disappointed.  As a bonus, I left the gearbox hub connector securely attached to the unit just as it came off the blower - i was NOT going to stress the short shaft/bearings/seal trying to remove a 50 year old attachment -  have confidence you may connect it as is.  Thank you for your interest!
